Leader: Welcome to Evanston Bible Fellowship this Easter Sunday! Please stand and join us in this call to worship, reading the words in bold.
Leader: This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
All: We gather today to shout Alleluia!
Christ is risen; he is risen indeed!
Leader: Out of the doom of death and despair,
victory comes, glory appears.
All: We gather today to shout Alleluia!
Christ is risen; he is risen indeed!
Leader: We shall live, witness, and recount the deeds
of the Lord whose love endures forever.
Based on Psalm 118 & John 20
Glorious Day
Verse 1
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb 'til I met You
Verse 2
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb 'til I met You
Chorus
('Cause when) You called my name (and)
I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name (and) I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
Verse 3
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new Jesus when I met You
Bridge
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open

Unstoppable God
Verse 1
Heaven thundered
And the world was born
Life begins and ends
In the dust You formed
Faith commanded
And the mountains moved
Fear is losing ground
To our hope in You
Chorus
Unstoppable God
Let Your glory go on and on
Impossible things
In Your name they shall be done (oh)
Verse 2
Freedom conquered
All our chains undone
Sin defeated
Jesus has overcome
Mercy triumphed
When the third day dawned
Darkness was denied
When the stone was gone
Bridge
Nothing shall be impossible
Your kingdom reigns unstoppable
We'll shout Your praise forevermore
Jesus our God unstoppable
Interlude
Oh oh oh oh
Ending
Oh

Living Hope
Verse 1
How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished the end is written
Jesus Christ my living hope
Verse 2
Who could imagine so great a mercy
What heart could fathom such boundless grace
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ my living hope
Chorus
Hallelujah praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope
Verse 3
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
(REPEAT)
Jesus Yours is the victory whoa
Ending
Jesus Christ my living hope
Oh God You are my living hope

Confession & Assurance
Leader: Let us pray this prayer of confession together, reading the words in bold:
Leader: Almighty God,
in raising Jesus from the grave,
you shattered the power of sin and death.
We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear,
bound by the ways that lead to death.
We overlook the poor and the hungry
and pass by those who mourn;
We are deaf to the cries of the oppressed
and indifferent to calls for peace;
We despise the weak
and abuse the earth you made.
All: Forgive us, God of mercy.
Help us to trust your power
to change our lives and make us new,
that we may know the joy of life abundant
given in Jesus Christ, the risen Lord. Amen.
Leader: Hear the good news from Colossians 2:13-15: “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ.
All: He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
Leader: And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
Leader: (Prayer)
Leader: You may be seated.

Scripture Reading:
Colossians 2:6-15 (NIV)
Leader: Please return and remain standing (as you are able) for today’s Scripture reading from Colossians 2:6-15. After the reading, the response will be, “Thanks be to God.”
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh s was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
Leader: The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!
Leader: You may be seated.

Jesus Paid It All
Verse 1
And I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all
Chorus 1
'Cause Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Interlude 1
(It's washed away)
(All my sin and all my shame)
Verse 2
Lord now indeed I find
Thy pow'r and Thine alone
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone
Verse 3
And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat
Interlude 2
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
He washed it white as snow
He washed it white as snow
Chorus 2
Oh praise the One Who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead
(Jesus)

O Praise The Name (Anástasis)
Verse 1
I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds His hands His feet
My Saviour on that cursed tree
Verse 2
His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone
Chorus
O praise the Name of the Lord our God
O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord oh Lord our God
Verse 3
Then on the third at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting
The angels roar for Christ the King
Verse 4
He shall return in robes of white
The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face

Benediction:
Hebrews 13:20-21 (NIV)
Leader: As we go, receive this benediction from Hebrews 13:20-21:
20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Leader: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!
