"Only King Forever"

Verse 1
Our God and firm foundation
Our Rock the only solid ground
The nations rise and fall
Kingdoms once strong now shaken
We trust forever in Your name
The name of Jesus
We trust in the name of Jesus

Chorus
You are the only King forever
Almighty God we lift You higher
You are the only King forever
Forevermore You are victorious
(REPEAT)

Verse 2
Unmatched in all Your wisdom
In love and justice You will reign
And ev'ry knee will bow
We bring our expectations
Our hope is anchored in Your name
The name of Jesus
Oh we trust the name of Jesus

Bridge
We lift our banner high
We lift the name of Jesus
From age to age You reign
Your kingdom has no end

"Let Your Kingdom Come"

Verse 1
Your glorious cause O God
Engages our hearts
May Jesus Christ be known
Wherever we are
We ask not for ourselves
But for Your renown
The cross has saved us so we pray
Your kingdom come

Chorus
Let Your kingdom come
Let Your will be done
So that ev’ryone might know Your Name
Let Your song be heard ev’rywhere on earth
Till Your sov’reign work on earth is done
Let Your kingdom come

Verse 2
Give us Your strength O God
And courage to speak
Perform Your wondrous deeds
Through those who are weak
Lord use us as You want
Whatever the test
By grace we'll preach Your Gospel till
Our dying breath

"Be Thou My Vision"

Verse 1
Be Thou my vision
O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me
Save that Thou art
Thou my best thought
By day or by night
Waking or sleeping
Thy presence my light

Verse 2
Be Thou my wisdom
Be Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee
And Thou with me Lord
Thou my great Father
I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling
And I with Thee one

Verse 3
Riches I heed not
Nor man's empty praise
Thou mine inheritance
Now and always
Thou and Thou only
Be first in my heart
High King of heaven
My treasure Thou art

Verse 4
High King of heaven
My vict'ry won
May I reach heaven's joys
O bright heaven's Sun
Heart of my own heart
Whatever befall
Still be my vision
O Ruler of all

Confession & Assurance

Leader: Please join us in this prayer of confession, reading the words in bold:

Leader: Holy and merciful God,
in your presence we confess
our sinfulness, our shortcomings,
and our offenses against you.

All: You alone know how often we have sinned
in wandering from your ways,
in wasting your gifts,
in forgetting your love.

Leader: Have mercy on us, O Lord,
for we are ashamed and sorry
for all we have done to displease you.

All: Forgive our sins,
and help us to live in your light
and walk in your ways,
for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

Leader: Brothers and sisters, hear the good news from Colossians 2:13-14: 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ.

All: He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

Leader: (Prayer)

Leader: You may be seated.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 7:13-23 (NIV)

Leader: Please return and remain standing (as you are able) for today’s Scripture reading from Matthew 7:13-23. After the reading, the response will be, “Thanks be to God.”

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Leader: The Word of the Lord

All: Thanks be to God!

Leader: You may be seated.

"The Narrow Path, Repentance, and Fruit" (Mattthew 7:13-23)

I. Introduction
II. A Method for Interpreting Difficult Passages: Question, Context, Specifics, Other Scripture
III. The Wide Path to Destruction and the Narrow Path to Life
IV. True and False Prophets as Revealed by Good and Bad Fruit
V. True and False Disciples, Repentance, and Fruit
VI. Three Conclusions

Big Idea: There is a narrow path that leads to eternal life, and the way that you know that you are on it is by the fruit in your life, which is also the way that you can distinguish between true and false prophets

"Christ Is Mine Forevermore"

Verse 1
Mine are days that God has numbered
I was made to walk with Him
Yet I look for worldly treasure
And forsake the King of kings

Chorus 1
But mine is hope in my Redeemer
Though I fall His love is sure
For Christ has paid for every failing
I am His forevermore

Verse 2
Mine are tears in times of sorrow
Darkness not yet understood
Through the valley I must travel
Where I see no earthly good

Chorus 2
But mine is peace that flows from heaven
And the strength in times of need
I know my pain will not be wasted
Christ completes His work in me

Verse 3
Mine are days here as a stranger
Pilgrim on a narrow way
One with Christ I will encounter
Harm and hatred for His name

Chorus 3
But mine is armour for this battle
Strong enough to last the war
And He has said He will deliver
Safely to the golden shore

Chorus 4
And mine are keys to Zion city
Where beside the King I walk
For there my heart has found its treasure
Christ is mine forevermore

Bridge
Come rejoice now O my soul
For His love is my reward
Fear is gone and hope is sure
Christ is mine forevermore

"Let It Be Jesus"

Verse 1
Let it be Jesus
The first name that I call
Let it be Jesus
My song inside the storm
I'll never need another

Chorus
For me to live is Christ
For me to live is Christ
God I breathe Your name above ev'rything
Let it be let it be Jesus
(Let it be let it be (my) Jesus)

Verse 2
Let it be Jesus
From the rising of the sun
Let it be Jesus
When all is said and done
I'll never need another
Jesus there's no other

Bridge
Should I ever be abandoned
Should I ever be acclaimed
Should I ever be surrounded
By the fire and the flame
There's a name I will remember
There's a name I will proclaim
Let it be let it be Jesus
Let it be let it be Jesus
Let it be let it be

Ending
Oh let it be let it be Jesus

Benediction

Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)

Leader: As we go, receive this benediction from Ephesians 2:8-10:

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Leader: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!
