Welcome & Call to Worship
Isaiah 40:26, 28-31 (NIV)
Leader: Welcome to Evanston Bible Fellowship, and Happy New Year! If you’re new, we invite you to scan the QR code in front of you and fill out the connection card to let us know you’re here. Please stand for our call to worship from Isaiah 40, reading the words in bold.
Leader: 26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
All: 29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Leader: 30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
All: They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Leader: Let’s lift up our hearts and voices in worship!

Look To The Son
Chorus
Oh we look to the Son
Set our eyes on our Saviour
See the image of love
Sing His praises forever
Oh we look to the Son
Verse 1
Salvation tearing through the dead of night
See the kingdom burst into colour
At the speed of light
Freedom shaking up the atmosphere
As the shadows fade into nothing
As the day appears
Pre-Chorus
Beyond the skies above
Love reaching out for us
The everlasting One
Jesus our God
Verse 2
Creation waking up to kingdom come
See the hope of heaven shining
Like the rising sun
Now forever lifted up from death to life
There's no fear in love
And no darkness in His endless light

Confession & Assurance
Leader: Let us pray this prayer of confession together:
All: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
Leader: Sisters and brothers, hear the good news: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8)
All: For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Col 1:13)
Leader: (Prayer)
Leader: Dismiss the kids, and invite everyone to greet one another.
Scripture Reading: Psalm 121 (NIV)
Leader: Please return and remain standing (as you are able) for today’s Scripture reading from Psalm 121. After the reading, the response will be, “Thanks be to God.”
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Leader: The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!
Leader: You may be seated.

Communion & Prayers of the People
O Praise The Name (Anástasis)
Verse 1
I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds His hands His feet
My Saviour on that cursed tree
Verse 2
His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone
Chorus
O praise the Name of the Lord our God
O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord oh Lord our God
Verse 3
Then on the third at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting
The angels roar for Christ the King
Verse 4
He shall return in robes of white
The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face

Benediction: Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)
Leader: As we go, receive this benediction from Hebrews 12:1-3:
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Leader: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!
